Yeah, I know, these aren't even made anymore. But mine has finally died, and I really liked it for its simplicity. I'm not a techie person, and I have a computer, so all I want is a simple note taker. If anyone has a BNS that still works and holds a charge or knows where I can get one for pretty cheap, please let me know.
I may be able to obtain one. How much would you be asking for it?
Don't you mean how much I'd be willing to pay? LOL. Send me a PM letting me know how much you would expect to get and what kind of condition it is in, and we can go from there.
Well, I have a few friends who have them and don't use them. I know that they are slightly used, but not missing keys or anything. The AC adapters are still there and they come with cases. Not much after that. I think one of them might have a disk drive, but who uses 3 1/2" floppies now. And yes, I meant how much you would be willing to pay:)
A friend of mione has one, maybe he is interested in selling??
I also have a BNS, well it's a BNS Scholar, but it is very similar to the regular version. The only difference is that it uses the DoubleTalk synthesizer and has a graphing calculator feature built in along with the regular and scientific calculators. I have a post with all the information about it on the Garage sell Board.
Actually it's a BNS Scholar that I have now. I got it from APH a couple years ago because they were trying to clear out their stock. I think I paid around $350 for it, and for it to have only lasted a couple years, that turned out to be too much in my opinion. And since I don't have a job anymore, I can't really afford any more than that. So if any of you have friends who would be willing to sell for as low as $350, leave me a PM.
For $300 you could get an iPod Touch and I keep all my notes on mine.
They're easy to use, even my parents in law and friends in their 70s are using them.
Just sayin, for $300 you could sure do yourself a lot better, and finding things no strange key sequences you have to try and remember, just slide your finger around. Then get a portable keyboard for inexpensive from Amazon, just sayin, if money's tight, you may as well get the very most out of it. And, as I said, I had my sixteen-year-old daughter teach her grandma how to use her new iPhone. My Pod holds everything, and I use it for everything I ever used a PAC Mate for plus tons more. You'll miss not having a Braille display like the Braille 'n Speaks but you'll get accustomed to it.
this is certainly an interesting topic with discussion.
One of valuable learning.
Have not as of yet been in touch with my friend who I think has what is/ being discussed.
Thanks for checking, Grace. Tell your friend I'd be interested in either a Braille 'n Speak 2000 or a Braille 'n Speak Scholar.
hear ya on that one
I've got a braille and speak in good condition Let me know if you're interested. Everything works comes with the adapter case manual everything it needs.
Today I took my BNS Scholar to a store called Batteries Plus. I was advised to do this by a woman who works at a place here in town that sells adaptive equipment. I thought it would be an easy in and out of the store, but it turns out they need to keep it and work on it in the store. So I won't know whether a new battery pack will do the trick or if I still need to look for a new unit for at least a week. I'll update this board when I find out.
Thanks to those of you trying to help.
Hi all
I have found a suitable note taker so am no longer looking. Thanks to all who tried to help me find a Braille 'n Speak.
What notetaker was it?
I'm getting a Voice Note Classic that has been refurbished by someone I know and trust. Like I said in my first post on this topic, I wanted something simple and don't need all the bells and whistles of the new note takers, nor could I afford them anyway.
...good thing you posted here
